Laguna, Phuket trip
This post is way over due. We had a lovely trip to Phuket with Aunt Luci and Uncle Ron. Not long after we arrived in Hong Kong, we learned how much they loved Thailand. So much so that they go back to Phuket every year. We are falling into a similar pattern as this was our third trip to Phuket since moving here. It is so easy to get to, people are friendly, food is great and weather is amazing. The area we stayed in this time is referred to as the Laguna area.
Matt, Luci and Ron go for a dip.
Hotel main pool, complete with lazy river
After some beach and pool time, we took the trolley into town for some shopping before dinner.
Lots of silver shops, art galleries and furniture store in town.
Who doesn't need one of these to cover their tissue boxes? I better get one in each color.
Where does a girl have to go around here to get a dang massage?
We had dinner at Tatonka's. This is the usual spot for Ron and Luci. After eating their food, I can see why. Delish! It has a cute, laid back atmosphere, complete with a few of the owner's dogs hanging around.
Head chef, Harold Schwarz came out to give us the run down on the specials.
It was about 100 degrees out. Nothing like a good margarita to cool you off.
These were tuna tartare tacos. Not always on the menu but they should be. I went up and told him that afterwards. He said they are not a staple on the menu because it depends on when they can get the high grade tuna. If you are lucky enough to have this as a special when you go, get it!
Snapped a quick pic of him cooking in his open kitchen. I like to think that we were friends by the end of the night.
The next morning after a long stroll on the beach, I got to meet Chokdee, which means Lucky in Thai. Lucky made his appearance every morning after breakfast. He played the harmonica too which was kinda awesome. His handler was very gentle. Lucky did tricks for fruit and the occasional dollar which he would suck up with his trunk.
Crossing his legs.
You can see that he has some bananas in his trunk.
Lucky gave Luci a kiss!
There are a lot of rescue elephant programs in Thailand. You can even go Elephant Trekking on rescued elephants.
Few pics of our villa, complete with private pool.
One of the things I loved about the resort is that each guests gets a bike. The resort is massive so you just hop on your bike to get around.
South Carolina flag anyone?
We biked over to Ron and Luci's villa for some pre-dinner drinks.
The amazing hosts of the weekend- Ron and Luci!
We headed back into town for dinner at the Supper Club. Food was delicious and the staff was amazing! Great jazz music and yummy cocktails too!
Thank you Ron and Luci for an amazing trip! Come back to Hong Kong soon! We miss you guys!!!
