Myanmar 2013. Bagan Part 1
Finally we arrived in Bagan! It was just about dinner time when we arrived. After dropping our bags at our hotel, we took a short stroll and settle on this place called Harmony for dinner. Since our hotel was located on Nyaung Oo Main Street, there were no shortage of options. We picked a place that looked local.
At the front, there were all these skewers to pick up for BBQ'ing. It wasn't apparently to me that they were refrigerated, so I was sure we were going to get sick. Surprisingly, none of us did and the food was delicious.
The next morning, we started the temples. All the temples are accessible by bikes. Matt and I rode traditional bicycles while Pat and Gillian took electronic bikes. I apologize in advance for not naming the temples. Many didn't have a name clearly labeled.
No shoes allowed in any of the temples so we were always barefoot (note- pack shoes you can get in and out of quickly and don't care about getting dusty).
My new little buddy. So cute!
You could buy local sand paintings outside almost all of the temples.
Supposedly an original door frame.
We went to check out the Archaeological Museum. Definitely skip this. Nothing that interesting. No photos were allowed inside, but take my word for it.
No Mai Tai cocktails allowed, just in case you wanted to check.
A quick pit stop for lunch. Not much else around this area and we were ready to eat.
Original USA recipe because I know we all drink this back in the states. What?!
We decided to do the ferry ride for sunset. Not the greatest thing we did, but it was cheap and felt great out on the water. Note- December is low season for the water levels.
Our boat captain.
Dinner at the Weather Spoon- so good we ate here twice!
Shopping pit stop.
The boys put on a fashion show of their latest purchases.
