Myanmar 2013. Bagan Part 2

Off to explore Mount Popa, which we nicknamed Trash Mountain. Unfortunately, they let the monkeys run everywhere and people feed them and no one cleans up. We just winged it and went without a guide so we had no idea what we were looking at. It was about a 1.5 hr drive from downtown Bagan. We made a few pit stops with our driver on the way.

Mount Popa- looks like Disney from this angle. It is definitely not Disney....

Note- you have to walk/climb the stairs barefoot.

Monkeys everywhere!

We tried these local fruits called custard apples on our way back. You can also find these in Hong Kong. They sort of tasted like a pear mixed with a lychee. Delicious.

Not the Target bags I am used to.

These guys were carrying a goat.

Off to explore temples and catch a sunset.

These kids were our tour guides.

We got around on our motor bikes. I think this is where we temporarily lost Pat.

Never one to miss a sales opportunity, this guy sold paintings while we waited for the sun to set.

Dinner time. Black Bamboo was quite a popular restaurant in the guide books and among expats. It is off a side street but most locals should be able to point you in the right direction.
