Channeling Tibi

Today marks 2 weeks before the movers will arrive. As the reality of moving sets in, I find myself wondering what will become of my professional career in Hong Kong. Then I was reminded of one of my favorite designers, Tibi.

How Tibi founder Amy Smilovic got her start:
Amy grew up with a sketch pad and pencil in hand, on a small island off the coast of Georgia. She was always obsessed with style – whether it was creating accessories and clothing to sell to local boutiques or spending hours putting together the perfect outfit. After graduating from University of Georgia, she pursued an early career in advertising at Ogilvy & Mather and later at American Express in New York City.

In 1997, Amy moved to Hong Kong with her husband for his job. It was there that she decided that it would be the perfect time to put her artistic skills to use and pursue her dream of launching a fashion label. She and her husband moved back to the United States in 2000 and now reside in Greenwich, Connecticut with their two boys.

Could this be my story one day? Grew up in GA-check. Went to UGA-check. Worked in Advertising-check. Works on Amex in NY-check. Moving to Hong Kong-check. Did I mention Matt is from Connecticut?

As seen on Gossip Girl

And if you fear the price tag on some of these darling pieces, Tibi is now available on Rent the Runway for as little as $50/dress! RTR is perfect for when you have multiple weddings/showers with all the same people-not that I would know anything about that!
